The World's Biggest Pokémon Card Collectors

Pokémon card collecting became a billion-dollar market starting in 2020. Some collectors have amassed fortunes in cards over decades — others bought everything in a few years. Meet the biggest names.

1. Logan Paul — the public face of collecting

Gyarados, one of the most collected Pokémon in rare cards

Logan Paul spent over US$ 10 million on Pokémon cards between 2020 and 2023. His most famous purchase was the Pikachu Illustrator PSA 10 for US$ 5,275,000 — a Guinness world record. He also bought a Base Set 1st Edition box for US$ 3.5 million — which he later discovered was full of fake cards. One of the biggest scams ever in the collector market.

2. Gary Haase — the Blastoise Presentation owner

American collector Gary Haase owns the Blastoise Presentation Galaxy Star — the card once dubbed "the only $1 million card in the world" before the Illustrator explosion. He's been collecting since 1998 and never misses a limited edition.

3. Ludwig Ahgren — the streamer collector

Streamer Ludwig opened Base Set 1st Edition boxes live in 2021, spending over US$ 350,000 in a single stream. The community loved it. He donated much of the rare pulls to charity.

4. Deriums (Rui Filipe) — Brazil in the world top 10

Brazilian Rui Filipe, known as Deriums on YouTube, has one of Latin America's largest collections, focused on rare Japanese cards. He's a key reference for Portuguese-speaking collectors.

5. PokéRev — the king of unboxings

PokéRev has 1.5M+ YouTube subscribers just from opening cards. His personal collection is estimated at over US$ 5 million, including multiple Charizard 1st Edition copies.

6. Anonymous collectors — the mystery

Big Goldin Auctions and PWCC auctions frequently feature anonymous buyers — private collectors who avoid the spotlight. Estimates suggest at least 50 private collectors with collections above US$ 3 million worldwide.
